Two interesting developments took place in music licensing laws in Europe recently. Until now, licensing tracks for online use has been a labyrinth that has negatively affected the growth of online music. Potential uses had o contact each individual authors rights society, which is a significant administrative task.
The European Parliament’s legal affairs committee voted unanimously to allow online providers to obtain copyright licenses to stream music across E.U. borders. Music supervisor Mary Ramos, whose work includes “Kill BIll”, the “Twilight Zone” TV series and “Django Unchained” will be giving a keynote address at the Sync Summit for music licensing and supervision in Paris on April 14 & 15, 2014.
More news from the award-winning Italian soundtrack composer. Ennio Morricone is embarking on a major symphonic concert tour over the coming months, surely one of the last items that he will do that at this level. He will be presenting extracts from his extensive repertoire with the Roma Sinfonietta Orchestra, with whom he was been working for 12 years.
The Ennio Morricone concert tour will be appearing between December 2013 and July 2014 across Europe and the US.
UPDATE: Ennio Morricone won an award as Best Composer 2013 at the European Film Awards in Berlin on December 7, 2013. The award went for his work on the Italian film “The Best Offer”.
